Moistur AI vs Ahrefs
Ahrefs is the SEO suite most Australian agencies already pay for, and Brand Radar adds an AI-visibility view inside it. This page is about whether that view is enough to sell AI visibility to clients, or whether a dedicated tracker like Moistur AI earns its keep alongside it.
Moistur AI is a GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) platform that tracks how your brand appears inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot. Ahrefs’ details on this page were read from its official pages on 2026-09-11.
Do you need a second tool at all?
- You already run on Ahrefs and want an occasional, dataset-level read of who is visible in your category across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot.
- Macro research matters more than client-by-client tracking: Brand Radar's dataset of more than 450 million prompts shows category-wide visibility no small tool can match.
- Your AI reporting can live inside Ahrefs' Report Builder or Looker Studio, and monthly-to-weekly refreshes are fine for the story you tell clients.
- AI visibility is a service line you sell and re-measure client by client, every day, with your own buyer prompts and no per-check metering.
- Clients need sentiment, share of voice, cited sources and a weekly action plan, not only mention counts.
- You want branded reports, share links and client logins included in a flat price for up to 10 client brands.
Two different products, honestly described
Ahrefs is a full SEO suite: the backlink index, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit and Rank Tracker that most SEO agencies in Australia use daily, with Australian keyword and ranking data as standard. Brand Radar is its AI-visibility module. It reports mentions, citations, AI share of voice and estimated impressions across Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, built on a dataset of more than 450 million search-backed prompts. You can add your own prompts too, metered per check. Details were read from Ahrefs' pricing page and help centre on 2026-09-11.

What Brand Radar gives you inside Ahrefs
Brand Radar answers a research question well: across hundreds of millions of prompts derived from what people search, which brands do the AI assistants name, and how often is a site cited? Because the dataset is built from search demand, it also estimates impressions, which is a useful way to size an AI opportunity for a pitch.
The trade-offs are documented in Ahrefs' own help centre. The chatbot indexes refresh monthly. Tracking your own prompts costs one check per prompt, per assistant, per location: a Standard plan includes 300 checks a month, so 25 client prompts on four assistants cost 100 checks per run and use up the allowance in the third week of weekly tracking (on the third day of daily tracking), and extra checks are sold in packages from US$50 a month. Claude is available only through custom prompts, where each Claude check uses eight checks, and there is no sentiment metric on the Brand Radar pages we read.
What a dedicated tracker adds
A daily, prompt-level tracker changes what you can promise a client. Every buyer question runs every day on every included assistant; each answer is scored for whether the brand appears, where it sits, how it is described, which rivals appear beside it and which sources the assistant cites. Moistur AI samples repeatedly and reports scores with confidence intervals, because a single AI answer is close to noise, and it treats disagreement between ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity as a signal to act on rather than an inconvenience.
The output is a weekly playbook: what changed, why it probably changed, and a short list of actions ranked by expected impact. When you ship an action, the prompts are re-run and the playbook says whether the answer moved. That is the difference between a report and a service line. See our guide to SEO vs GEO for how the two measurement models differ.
Keeping Ahrefs and adding Moistur AI
Nobody should cancel Ahrefs for an AI-visibility tool, and we will not pretend otherwise. The practical stack for an Australian SEO agency is Ahrefs for rankings, backlinks, audits and category-wide AI research, and Moistur AI for the client-level AI-visibility service: daily tracking, sentiment and share of voice, white-label reports, the weekly action plan. The two do not overlap much, which is exactly why the second tool is worth paying for.
Australian data: both cover it, differently
Ahrefs' Australian keyword and ranking data is as good as any in the market, and Brand Radar lets you choose locations for custom-prompt checks. Moistur AI's Australian relevance is in the prompts: packs written the way Australian buyers ask, city-scoped questions for local-service clients, Australian spelling, and an agency plan priced for Australian retainer economics. Australian agencies are our first market, and every check on this page was made with them in mind.
The ideal customer for each
Agencies and in-house teams whose SEO work already lives in Ahrefs and who want an AI-visibility view in the same tool, at research depth rather than service depth. If a monthly or weekly read is enough for the client conversation, Brand Radar is the frictionless choice.
Agencies adding AI visibility as a paid deliverable to SEO retainers, and brands that want to know, every week, whether AI assistants recommend them, what they say, and what to change. The sweet spot is 3 to 50 tracked brands with a flat, predictable cost.
What you get here that you do not get there
- Daily runs of your own buyer prompts across every included assistant, with no per-check metering.
- Sentiment, share of voice, cited sources and cross-model disagreement on every prompt, with confidence intervals instead of single-run numbers.
- A weekly playbook of actions that is re-measured after you act.
- An agency portfolio for up to 10 client brands at a flat price, with white-label reports, branded share links and read-only client logins included.
- Australian buyer-language prompt packs and city-scoped prompts, because Australian agencies are our first market.
A Sydney SEO agency with 12 retainers, already on Ahrefs Standard
The agency wants to add AI-visibility reporting to every retainer without adding a headcount. Here is how the month looks at list prices read on 2026-09-11.
- Keep Ahrefs Standard (US$249) and add Brand Radar AI for all platforms (US$699 a month, 2,500 custom-prompt checks included).
- Twelve clients with 20 prompts each on four assistants other than Claude is 960 checks per run; weekly runs need about 4,160 checks a month. The plan's 300 and Brand Radar AI's 2,500 included checks cover 2,800; the other 1,360 cost about US$27.20 at the US$0.02-a-check overage rate, or US$50 as a Basic package of 2,500 checks.
- Build a client report per account in Report Builder or Looker Studio; add a US$60 seat for each extra account manager.
- Monthly total at list: about US$975 before seats, with weekly refreshes and no sentiment or action plan.
- Add Moistur AI Agency (US$499 a month flat) alongside the existing Ahrefs subscription.
- Ten client brands run daily across six assistants; the two extra brands are scoped on the setup call under Agency Enterprise.
- Each client gets a branded weekly playbook PDF, a branded share link and a read-only login; 10 internal seats are included.
- Monthly total at list: US$499 plus the Ahrefs plan the agency already pays for.
For research and pitching, Brand Radar earns its place inside Ahrefs. For a repeatable, per-client AI-visibility service, the flat agency plan is the simpler line item, and the two tools do different jobs. Both numbers are list prices on the day we checked; confirm them on the vendors' pages before you quote a client.

- Six AI surfaces in the dataset, including Google AI Overviews and AI Mode.

- Custom prompts are billed per check, with packages from US$50 a month on top of the plan.

- Sold through a short call rather than self-serve signup, with prices in USD.
Questions people ask about Ahrefs and Moistur AI
Is Ahrefs useful for AI visibility?+
Yes. Brand Radar reports mentions, citations, AI share of voice and estimated impressions across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, drawn from a dataset of more than 450 million prompts. It is strongest for category research. For daily, client-level tracking of your own prompts, the per-check metering and monthly index refresh are the limits to plan around.
Does Ahrefs Brand Radar track Claude?+
Only through custom prompts, according to Ahrefs' help centre on 2026-09-11; Claude is not part of the dataset indexes. Moistur AI includes Claude on every plan.
How often does Brand Radar refresh ChatGPT data?+
Ahrefs states the AI chatbot indexes (ChatGPT, Gemini and others) update once a month, while AI Overviews data updates every few days. Your own tracked prompts can run monthly, weekly or daily, each run using checks from your allowance.
Is Moistur AI an Ahrefs alternative or a complement?+
A complement. Moistur AI does no SEO work; it measures and improves how AI assistants recommend a brand. Most agencies keep Ahrefs and add Moistur AI for the client-level AI-visibility service.
Which is better for Australian agencies?+
For SEO, Ahrefs, without question. For selling AI visibility to Australian clients as a weekly service, Moistur AI: Australian buyer prompts, daily tracking, white-label reports and a flat agency price. Many agencies will run both.
Can I white-label Ahrefs reports?+
No. Ahrefs' help centre says: "At present we do not allow to white-label our reports." Report Builder can schedule PDF reports by email, and the Looker Studio connector (Advanced plans and up) lets you build your own dashboards, but there is no client portal or client login role. Moistur AI includes white-label playbook PDFs, branded share links and read-only client logins on the Agency plan.
What is the difference between SEO and GEO monitoring?+
SEO monitoring tracks where pages rank in search results. GEO (generative engine optimisation) monitoring tracks whether AI assistants mention or recommend a brand when people ask them buying questions, what they say, and which sources they cite. The two are only loosely related: a page can rank well and never be cited. Our SEO vs GEO guide goes deeper.
Can agencies use Moistur AI for multiple clients?+
Yes. The Agency plan runs up to 10 client brands from one portfolio, each in its own isolated workspace, with white-label reports and read-only client logins. Larger rosters are scoped on the setup call.
